Happy February!
Our baby pound cake finally has a name, and we want, you, our friends and
customers, to have a heads up. Many of you suggested names for the baby
cake and even went so far as to suggest cool packaging for it, too! All of
that engagement really helped get the creative juices flowing as we tried
to nail down a name. Thank you, thank you!
We’ve decided on Ma Petite. I love the name, and I would like to
tell you how it came about. A friend/mentor and I were sharing the Fannie
Bragg story with the owner of a French restaurant located in Charlotte. I
explained that in addition to our 7-inch classic cake I was ready to launch
a much smaller cake. (Here is a better description of the cake from the
Fannie Bragg website.) A conversation ensued, and ideas for names were tossed
around. But it wasn’t until after lunch when I was talking to another
friend that the stars aligned, the heavens parted and I decided on Ma
Petite. There were some of you who wanted the cake to be named after my
granddaughter, Berkeley. I thought about it, but it just didn’t
resonate with me. When Ma Petite entered my mind, and we did all the
obligatory Googling, it seemed that the French term of endearment for a
small child just fit the bill. Berkeley is certainly ma petite granddaughter!
Ma Petite pound cake is available in classic sour cream or chocolate.
It’s a perfect size for sharing with a friend, but I personally eat the
whole thing by myself. Keep these cute cakes in mind for Valentine’s Day.
I’ve received several orders already, and by far the most popular
combination of Ma Petite cakes is one sour cream and one chocolate. That
just about covers any palate. Shipping dates are dwindling, so go ahead and
reserve your cakes and dates. Or, if you live in Charlotte, visit me at
Reid’s Fine Foods at SouthPark on Saturday, February 13, where I’ll be
sharing samples of the chocolate Ma Petite.
Thank you for your continued support as we share this good cake. If you
don’t already follow us on social media, consider this an invitation to
do so.
With much gratitude,
Pat Blumer
One more thing … the website has been updated with pricing to include shipping, for a short time. This should be easier for everyone, and I believe the numbers will all come out the same in the end. We’ll see. For those of you in Charlotte, the classic 7-inch cake along with Ma Petite cakes are available at both locations of Reid’s Fine Foods.
And one more thing…GO PANTHERS!
